# Add a My downloads link to the customer account page

> Give customers an obvious way into their downloads from their account.

Customer account downloads only help if customers can find them. A **My downloads** link in the account area makes it obvious, so buyers returning months later go straight there instead of searching their inbox or emailing you.

## Before you begin

The customer account downloads extension needs to be set up first, otherwise the link has nowhere to lead. See [Let customers download from the account page](https://help.filemonk.io/downloads-on-the-customer-account-page/).

## Set it up

1. Click **Filemonk** in the left menu of your Shopify admin.
2. Click **Settings** in the app's menu, then open the **Download page** tab.
3. In **Set up extensions**, add the customer account extensions, including the optional ones, and save in Shopify. See [Set up Filemonk's store extensions](https://help.filemonk.io/set-up-store-extensions/).
4. Open the customer accounts editor with **Customize** to set the wording customers see, including the **Button text** and the subtitle shown under a product name.

## What customers will see

Signed in to their account, a link to their downloads alongside their orders. Following it lists everything they have bought with a way to download each item.

## Check your setup

Place a test order, sign in to your store as that customer, and confirm the link is visible without hunting, and that it leads to the files. See [Create a test order](https://help.filemonk.io/create-a-test-order/).

## Troubleshooting

### The link doesn't appear

The relevant extension is missing or unsaved. Some are optional and are not added by default, so check each one's status. See [Set up Filemonk's store extensions](https://help.filemonk.io/set-up-store-extensions/).

### The link appears but the page is empty

That customer has no digital orders tied to their account, usually because they checked out as a guest or used a different email address.

### Customers still email me asking where their files are

Most people never visit their account page. Keep the download email and the Thank you page button as the primary routes, and treat this as the fallback for later.

### The wording is wrong or in English for everyone

Set it in the customer accounts editor. If you sell in several languages, translate it as well. See [Translate the text customers see](https://help.filemonk.io/translate-customer-facing-text/).

### Do customers need an account?

Yes. This lives inside customer accounts, so guest buyers see nothing until they create one with the same email.

### Does it show every past order?

Every digital order tied to that customer, including ones from before you added the link.

### Can I rename it?

Yes, the button text is yours to set in the customer accounts editor.
