# Skip fulfilment for products with certain tags

> Exclude tagged products from automatic fulfilment, without affecting their delivery.

Automatic fulfilment marks every digital line item fulfilled. Sometimes that is wrong: a bundle where you ship something physical, a made-to-order product you fulfil once the work is done, or a subscription you track yourself. Tagging those products excludes them from automatic fulfilment.

**This affects fulfilment only.** Customers still receive their files exactly as before. It changes what Shopify shows in your order queue, not what gets delivered.

## Before you begin

- Tag filters are a paid feature, alongside automatic fulfilment.
- Add the tags to the products in Shopify first. Filemonk reads Shopify's product tags.

## Set it up

1. Tag the relevant products in Shopify, for example `manual-fulfilment`.
2. Click **Filemonk** in the left menu of your Shopify admin.
3. Click **Settings** in the app's menu, then open the **Email** tab.
4. In the **Fulfillment** section, find **Skip products with these tags**.
5. Enter the tags as a comma separated list.
6. Save.

Products carrying any of those tags are no longer marked fulfilled automatically. Everything else continues as normal.

## Check your setup

Place a test order for a tagged product. The customer should receive their files as usual, and the item should remain unfulfilled in Shopify. See [Create a test order](https://help.filemonk.io/create-a-test-order/).

## Troubleshooting

### Tagged products are still being fulfilled

Compare the tag in Shopify with what you typed, exactly. Check for a trailing space, a different case, or a hyphen where you used an underscore. Confirm the tag is on the product rather than on the variant or the order.

### Customers stopped getting files after I added a tag

That is not this setting, which only affects fulfilment. Look for a status rule requiring fulfilment before delivery, which would now never be met for tagged products. See [Send email and show the button based on order status](https://help.filemonk.io/send-based-on-order-status/).

### I want to skip delivery, not fulfilment

This setting cannot do that. To stop delivering a product, remove its files in Filemonk. To stop processing orders before a point in time, use the cutoff. See [Ignore orders before a date or order number](https://help.filemonk.io/ignore-orders-before-a-date/).

### Only some tagged products are skipped

A tag list is exact. Every product you want excluded needs one of the tags you entered, spelled the same way.

## FAQ

### Does it stop customers getting their files?

No. Delivery is unaffected. Only the fulfilment status in Shopify changes.

### Can I use several tags?

Yes, comma separated. A product matching any of them is skipped.

### Does it work on orders already placed?

No, only orders processed after you set it.

### Can I still fulfil a skipped order by hand?
