Customize the download page

Match the page customers download from to your brand, and control what it shows.

The download page is where customers land from their email or the Thank you page, and for many stores it is the last thing a buyer sees. The editor lets you set its colors, logo, wording, and which details appear, with a live preview beside the controls.

Before you begin

Changes apply to every download page, including orders already placed, as soon as you save.
Removing the "Powered by Filemonk" line is a paid feature. See Remove Powered by Filemonk.

Set it up

Click Filemonk in the left menu of your Shopify admin.
Click Settings in the app's menu.
Open the Download page tab.
Click Customize to open the download page editor.
Work through the sections in the editor's left sidebar, then save.

What you can change

Content & colors carries the look and most of the wording:

Background, Sections, and Text colors, plus Logo size.
Thank you message, shown above the files.
Show product image and Show product & order prices, with a Price format to match your store.
Hide file extensions, if .pdf and .zip on every row looks noisy.
Labels for the file count in a folder, the order total, the copy button, and the messages shown while a download is starting or an order is still processing.

Quick links adds navigation back to you: Link to your store, and Link to all orders so a customer can reach everything they have ever bought.

The other sidebar sections cover behaviour rather than looks, and have their own guides: Download limits, Login controls, and licence key wording. For anything the controls do not reach, there is a CSS section. See Customize the download page and email with CSS.

What customers will see

Your colors, logo, and thank you message, with their files listed below, grouped into folders if you use them. Whether they see prices, product images, and file extensions is up to the settings above.

Check your setup

Open a real order's download page rather than trusting the preview alone, since the preview cannot show your actual files and folders. Place a test order, then open its link. See Create a test order.

Troubleshooting

My changes aren't showing

Confirm you saved, then reload the download page in a private window. If it still looks unchanged, check you edited the download page rather than the email template, which has its own editor.

Text is unreadable against my background

The Background, Sections, and Text colors are set independently, so a dark background with dark text is easy to create by accident. Set all three deliberately, and check the preview.

The page shows prices I'd rather customers didn't see again

Turn off Show product & order prices. This is common for gifted or discounted orders.

Customers ask what a file is before downloading

File names are doing the explaining. Rename the files themselves to something meaningful, and add instructions in the thank you message or per product. See Add custom messages and download instructions.

The Powered by Filemonk line is still there

It is removed on paid plans, from the Remove 'Powered by Filemonk' watermark setting. See Remove Powered by Filemonk.

FAQ

Can I have a different page per product?

The page design is store-wide, but the content on it varies with the order. For product-specific wording, add a custom message to the product. See Add custom messages and download instructions.

Can the page be on my own domain?

Yes, through Shopify's app proxy, so the URL is your store rather than Filemonk. See Use your own branded link for downloads.

Does this change the email as well?

No. The email has its own editor. See Customize the email template.

Can I show the page in the customer's language?

Yes. Set your default language and, if you sell across languages, translate the page text. See Translate the text customers see.

Will my changes affect past orders?

Yes. There is one design, and every order's page uses the current one.
