Set up Filemonk's store extensions
Several Filemonk features are not settings inside the app: they are extensions that live in your Shopify store. The Thank you page button, the Order Status button, and the customer account downloads all need their extension added and saved before customers see anything. Some are mandatory for a feature to work and others are optional.
Before you begin
You are editing your store's configuration, not Filemonk's, so changes have to be saved in Shopify. The most common cause of "the button never appeared" is an extension added but not saved.
Set it up
- Click Filemonk in the left menu of your Shopify admin.
- Click Settings in the app's menu, then open the Download page tab.
- Find Set up extensions and follow the steps it lists.
- Add each extension to your configuration and save in Shopify.
The section shows the status of each extension, so you can see what is done and what is outstanding. Verification can take a moment after saving.
What each extension does

With the customer account extensions in place, customers need to log in to reach their downloads, and Filemonk's emails include a link to the order's status page as well.
Check your setup
Place a test order and check each surface you set up: the Thank you page immediately after checkout, the order status page from the confirmation, and the customer account area when signed in. See Create a test order.
Troubleshooting
An extension shows as not set up
It was added but not saved, or added to a different theme or configuration than the live one. Re-add it, save in Shopify, then reload the Filemonk settings page.
The status is stuck on checking
Verification takes a moment. Reload the page. If it stays that way, confirm the extension is present in your live store configuration rather than a draft.
It works on my test theme but not the live store
Extensions are added per configuration. Publishing a different theme or configuration leaves the extension behind. Add it to the live one.
The button appears but leads nowhere
The extension is fine; the order has no files. See Troubleshoot a single order.
FAQ
Do I need all of them?
No. Add the ones for the features you want. The Thank you page button is worth it for almost every store; the customer account extensions matter if you want a permanent home for downloads.
Will they slow my store down?
They render after checkout and in customer accounts rather than on your storefront pages, so they are not in the path of browsing or the cart.
What happens if I remove one?
That surface stops showing downloads. Customers can still use their email links and download page.
Do I have to redo this when I change themes?
Check after a theme change. Extensions belong to a configuration, so a new theme may not carry them.
